Fears Expressed Blake’s Corner Judicial Review Could Put Planned Works Back ‘Years’

Fears are being expressed a judicial review process on the planned upgrade works at Blake’s Corner in Ennistymon could set the plans back ‘years rather than months’.

An Bord Pleanala gave the green light for a new bridge at the North Clare bottleneck back in September, but it’s emerged an application to review that decision has been submitted to the High Court in recent weeks.

Clare County Council says it intends to ‘strongly contest’ the review, but has told elected members the project could be held up ‘indefinitely’ if the Court allows the move.

 

Ennistymon-based Fianna Fail Councillor Shane Talty says while it’s a disappointment, the move is within the rights of property owners under CPO legislation.
