Fears Clare Farmers Will Exit Sector Over Current CAP Proposals

A Clare farmers representative fears there will be a mass exodus from the sector if current CAP proposals get over the line.

Negotiations are continuing in Brussels and decisions made within the next 24 hours will govern farm payments until 2027.

Its reported that farmers are facing cuts of 10% to direct payments in order to fund a front-loading scheme, which could see up to 40% of payments redistributed within Ireland in the next CAP.
