Fear Of Increased Anti-Social Behaviour Behind Ennis Carpark Objection

A rise in criminal activity is feared if a proposed car park in Ennis goes ahead.

A month after from Clare County Council lodged a planning application for a 122-space car park in the Waterpark Campus in Drumbiggle, Councillor Johnny Flynn has lodged an objection on a number of grounds.

The former Mayor of Ennis has been heavily critical of the reduction in car parking spaces seen in the county town in the last number of the years, with recent figures putting the current number of spaces almost 10% below where it was in 2008.

 

Despite this, Fine Gael Councillor Flynn believes the Waterpark Campus isn’t the right place for a car park because its secluded location could facilitate anti-social behaviour.
