Fear Ennis Town’s Reputation Could Suffer If Anti-Social Behaviour Isn’t Stamped Out

Fear has been expressed that Ennis Town could follow in the footsteps of Sligo if anti-social behaviour here isn’t eliminated.

At this month’s meeting of the Ennis Municipal District, Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Daly put forward a motion calling for the public to be urged to use the Garda Confidential line if they bear witness to criminal activity.

It comes following a spate of anti-social behaviour incidents in the county town, most recently a suspicious fire at a house in Cloughleigh where petrol bombs are believed to have been involved.

Councillor Daly, Vice-chair of Clare’s Joint Policing Committee, is concerned that Ennis reputation could suffer the same fate as Sligo’s after two murders and a serious assault were carried out there last month.
