Concern has been expressed that Fanore Beach is at risk of environmental degradation, due to the increased activity from staycationing.
A local naturalist believes the ecosystem is being damaged by fires and BBQs being lit, with many people visiting the area leaving rubbish behind.

Sheila O’Driscoll says she has contacted Clare County Council and local politicians about her concerns for the beach.
She feels Fanore is a welcoming village but that the area is not being respected.
