The family of the late Doolin Coast Guard Volunteer Caitríona Lucas is threatening the state with high court action unless the legal costs for her inquest are paid within the next eight days.
The 41 Year-Old Advanced Coxswain from Ballyvaughan became the first volunteer to lose her life while on active duty, during a search for a missing man of the coast off Kilkee in September, 2016.
The inquest into her death last November returned a verdict of misadventure and made seven recommendations regarding future Coast Guard operations.
Marine Expert, Acting On Behalf Of The Lucas Family, Michael Kingston says the state’s failure to pay their legal costs in a timely manner has added to the trauma of her loss.
