Family express grief and horror over Helen Donegan Killing

 

 53 year old man who’s pleaded guilty to killing mother of one Helen Donegan, who’s mother and son live in West Clare, will be sentenced next week.

Today The Central Criminal Court was told of the grief and horror experienced by family members of the 30 year old who’s body was found in the boot of a car in Kildare.

In December 53 year old Bernard Curran of The Wier Lucan in Dublin pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his partner Helen Donegan on a a date between May 4th and June 22nd 2010.

The mother of one – who had been living in Celbridge in Kildare but who’s immediate family live in Kildysart in West Clare – died from a gunshot would to the chest.

Her body was later found in the boot of a car.

The Central Criminal Court heard Bernard Curran told Gardaí  he was trying to kill himself when she grabbed the gun and it went off.

During today’s sentencing hearing – a victim impact statement from family members was read out in which they expressed their grief and horror at the young mum’s death-

Helen Donegan’s aunt said in the seven weeks before her body was found,  father of two Bernard Curran sat drinking tea and acted so normal while knowing Helen’s body was in the boot of a car.

Sentecing in the case will be completed next Monday.
