Fall In Live Register Numbers Across Clare

There was a fall in the number of people on the Live Register right across county Clare in March.

New statistics from the Central Statistics Office show 180 people came of the register here during last month.

The number of people on the Live Register in Clare has fallen for a second month in a row. 

There was a fall in all areas of the county, with the biggest percentage drop in North Clare, 8.4% down between the end of February and the last day of March.

In Ennis, 81 fewer people were signing on, with 20 less in West Clare and a drop of 16 in the East of the county. 

In total there were 4089 claiming some form of unemployment benefit here at end of last month.

The statistics mark a drop of 14.1% in Live Register figures in Clare in the past 12 months, which is ahead of the national average of 9 and half percent.
