The number of Clare residents signing on the live register fell last month.
After rising in both June and July, the county’s dole queues shrunk by over 200 in August, as Amy Ryan now reports for Clare FM.
The number of people signing on in each of Clare’s four social welfare offices of Ennis, Ennistymon, Tulla and Kilrush fell last month, with the largest drop in the county town.
134 people left the dole queues in Ennis, a larger drop than in the three other areas combined.
In West Clare, 37 people signed off along with 35 in North Clare and 30 more in the East of the county.
Despite this, over 9600 continued to claim benefits here at the end of last month, but this is 236 lower than at the beginning of August and 580 less than the same time last year.
