Fall Of 12,000 In Number Of People At Work In MidWest – CSO

Over 50,000 people joined the work force last year.

However, the number of people in the workforce in the MidWest fell by 12,000 in the same timeframe.

The latest CSO figures show that region’s unemployment rate still fell, however, and that the total number in the workforce dropped – suggesting that a higher proportion of people here moved elsewhere.

Nationally, the administration and construction sectors saw the biggest increase in employees while CSO Statistician Jim Dalton says the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector had the biggest decline in workers.
