Former town mayor Councillor Pat Daly has said the current facility, located near the Clare museum, is not good enough and is not in an suitable location.
Last evening's meeting of Ennis Councillors also heard that a retail offering at the office has come to an end, as well as fears that it could close altogether.
Councilllor Daly wants Fáilte Ireland to recognise the importance of the office to the town and the whole county.
