Face masks and food-related rubbish were among the reasons Ennis missed out on the top spot in the latest anti-litter league survey.
The county town has retained its 3rd spot in the ranking of 40 towns and cities across the country in the final survey of 2021 by the Irish Business Against Litter group and has once again been deemed “cleaner than European norms”.
Gort Road Business Park, which had been labelled “seriously littered” over the last number of IBAL surveys, is now deemed top-ranking, along with Tim Smythe Park, O’Connell Street and Ennis Courthouse.
Spokesperson for IBAL, Conor Horgan says overall Ennis had a pretty flawless result, with two areas holding it back from reaching first place.
