Clare’s Everest climber John Burke has been honoured by a civic reception at Áras Contae an Chláir.
The Spanish Point native became the first Clare person to climb the world’s highest mountain last month, and marked it by placing a saffron and blue flag on the peak.
John’s achievement was marked in a presentation at the council offices last night, along with a donation to the youth wellness charity Elevate, which he set up with his wife actress Aoibhin Garrihy.
