Eurozone Leaders Await Results From Greece

Eurozone leaders are awaiting the results from Greece as to whether it will sign off on a new plan for talks on a 3rd bailout.

After 17 hours of talks among eurozone heads of state and government an agreement was made which may lead to saving Greece from exiting the euro.

The deal requires harsh and fast reforms of pensions, tax, including vat and involves the setting up of a 50 billion euro fund based on selling Greek assets, which in part will be used to pay back Greek debt, as well as help the government invest in industry and jobs.

25 billion euro of the 86 billion euro programme, if it materialises, will go on recapitalising banks, and there is scope for debt re-profiling under strict conditions;  this does not involve debt writedown.

All eyes are now on Athens as to whether Alexis Tsipras can get the legislation and processes in place to start implementing the reforms by this Wednesday.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he hopes the negotiations on the third Greek bailout can proceed quickly.

The Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, says the negotiations have been tough. But he says talks of a 'grexit' are a thing of the past.
