The Economic and Social Research Institute has warned the government against lowering the budget adjustment to 2.5 billion euro.

In its latest quarterly economic outlook, the ESRI says the government should stick to the original 3.1 billion euro worth of cuts envisaged, instead of dragging austerity out over two years.
That’s despite their forecast of economic growth for this year of 2 per cent, and an expectation that the economy will expand by a further 2.7 per cent next year.
