It’s claimed that the ESB has breached its pollution control licence at Moneypoint over 17 times so far this year.
Newspaper reports today says the incidents at the coal fired power station in West Clare were also not reported to the Environmental Protection Agency.
The breaches – relating to smoke emissions from one of the plant’s chimneys came to light after the EPA did a site inspection following two reported incidents in July when ash was blown onto a number of local houses.
