Equinor Decision “Stresses” Issues With Pace Of Reform Of Regulatory System – WEI

It’s claimed the decision by Equinor, the leading developer behind Moneypoint’s offshore wind project, to pull out of the Irish Market stresses the fact that we’re not reforming our regulatory system quickly enough.

Between seven and ten offshore wind farms would have to be developed by 2030 in order for Ireland to meet its targets under the Climate Action Plan but Wind Energy Ireland says as it stands, we’re not moving fast enough to achieve this.

The Maritime Area Planning Bill is currently going through the Oireachtas for approval and will ultimately deal with legacy planning issues.
