EPA Not Happy With Timeline For New Wastewater Plant At Ennistymon And Lahinch

The EPA isn’t happy with the timeline Uisce Éireann has provided for a new wastewater treatment plant for Ennistymon and Lahinch.

Uisce Éireann, formerly known as Irish Water, plan to replace the two existing North Clare plants with one larger treatment plants to cater for both areas by 2029 – with the current facilities not meeting the standards required.

Noel Byrne, EPA Programme Manager with the Office of Environmental Enforcement, has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan that the issue will be resolved in Liscannor, Clarecastle and Kilrush this year and the two remaining areas in 2025.
