The Environment Minister says a new leading developer for Moneypoint’s offshore wind project is to be announced shortly.
Norwegian company Equinor had committed to overseeing the multi-billion euro works with the ESB, but pulled out of the project a year ago, citing concerns with the regulatory and planning regime in the State.
It’s been estimated that one and a half million homes could be powered by offshore wind at Moneypoint by 2028 if the project is completed on time.
Speaking during a visit to the plant, Minister Eamon Ryan says he’s not concerned about interest in picking up where Equinor left off.
