The Minister for Transport & The Environment claims the energy potential of the Shannon Estuary will rebalance regional development in the country.
The Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce Report, launched on Saturday is aiming to harvest up to 30GW of offshore wind energy on Clare’s coastline and in the process create 50,000 green jobs over the next 25 years.
The 200 page document has identified several priority projects across tourism , infrastructure & education in the county, including the establishment of a specialist maritime training facility in Kilrush and a rail link at Shannon Airport.
Green Party Leader , Eamon Ryan believes the plan will place Clare and the MidWest at the forefront of Ireland’s economic future.
