A young North Clare man who passed away tragically this week has been described as “the light of the world” by those who knew him.
Heartfelt tributes are being paid to multi-talented musician, sportsman and lifeguard Éanna Rouine, who died on Tuesday.
Renowned off the field for his wit, humour and qualities of fierce friendship, there has been an outpouring of grief following the tragic passing of Lahinch’s Éanna Rouine at just 20 years of age on Tuesday.
Éanna was a talented traditional musician, a beach lifeguard, a hurler and footballer with Ennistymon, where he was one of the club’s most decorated players
He represented Clare at minor and U20 level, along with being on the extended Clare senior football panel.
His achievements continued at third level, when he won a Freshers title with UL where he was studying business.
Ennistymon GAA Club Chair and local Councillor Shane Talty says Éanna will be remembered longly and fondly by all who knew him.
The Rouine and O’Gorman families are deeply rooted in the social, sporting and cultural fabric of Ennistymon and Parish Priest Fr Des Forde says he came to know Éanna from a young age.
He says Éanna was someone who could always make you laugh and has described him as “The light of the world”.
Éanna Rouine is survived by his parents John and Caitríona, brothers Eoin and Dara, sister Bríd-Áine and wide circle of extended family and friends.
He will be laid to rest on Sunday following a funeral mass at The Church of the Immaculate Conception Lahinch at 1pm.
