The Parish of Ennistymon has issued a statement in light of claims that a Traveller woman was barred from attending First Communion there because of the way she was dressed.
The statement comes after a video was posted on the Internet in recent days, showing complaints by the woman who accuses a priest of discrimination.
It has now been viewed over 44,000 times.
A statement attributed to the Parish outlines that there is a dress-code in place for participants in liturgical celebrations, and that this is to help "create a respectful and joyous atmosphere of worship, especially for children."
The statement also says that Ennistymon, which it describes as "ethnically diverse and wonderfully cosmopolitan…has always had a profound regard for sacred places and occasions."
