Heartfelt Tributes Paid To Young Clare Man Following Tragic Death Abroad

Heartfelt tributes are being paid to a young Clare man who died tragically abroad this week.

20-year-old Tim O’Dwyer from Ennisytmon passed away in New Zealand on Christmas Day following a fatal road traffic collision.

At approximately 12:45am (New Zealand time), emergency services responded to a single vehicle crash on Methven Highway, Ashburton, in the suburb of Allenton.

On arrival at the scene, the sole occupant of the car was declared dead by local police.

Tim O’Dwyer from Ennistymon is tragically the fifth motorist to lose his life on New Zealand’s roads over the festive period and his passing has led to an outpouring of grief and sadness at home.

In a Facebook post last night, Ennistymon Hurling Club described Tim as a well-liked and hardworking man who would be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

At 3pm this afternoon , the North Clare Tractor Run in aid of Embrace Farm, will be holding a minute’s silence followed by a special “REV it up for Tim” in memory of their dear friend.

Tim O’Dwyer had recently travelled to New Zealand for work along with a number of friends.

Among the scores of tributes flooding in, one reads “from strangers to best pals in no time Tim you were one of the happiest guys I’ve ever met and you will missed like you wouldn’t believe”.

Tim is survived by his parents, Carolyn O’Dwyer and Brian Shaloo, step-mother Áine, and siblings Cora, Leah, Cian, Sam and Jack.
