Ennistymon Councillor Calls For Emergency Funding For Road Repairs In West And North Clare

An Ennistymon councillor is calling for emergency funding to be made available for road repairs in west and north Clare.

Over 38.7 million euro has been allocated to Clare County Council to cater for regional and local roads in the county – an increase of more than 3.8 million on last year’s funding.

However, this week’s meeting of the West Clare Municipal District has heard that the increase in the cost of repairs combined with the significant damage caused to the roads by recent spells of bad weather mean that the funding won’t go far enough.

Cathaoirleach of the West Clare MD, Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty says residents in the region have an expectation that repairs will be carried out and that more funding is needed to do so.
