A 27-year-old Ennisman is in a critical condition in hospital, after he was assaulted in Limerick.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the incident which occured yesterday morning.
Gardai were called to an apartment at Knock hill on the Ennis Road at around 7.30am, where they found the man suffering with serious head injuries.
The 27 year old, from the Cloughleigh area of Ennis, was later taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition remains critical.
A woman in her 20s was arrested last night and taken to Henry Street Garda Station where she's being questioned in connection with the assault.
She's being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held for up to 24 hours.
