An Ennis woman's legal action against the makers of an allegedly defective hip replacement is before the Court of Appeal today.
Randa Murphy is suing DePuy International Ltd., the makers of replacement hips that were subject of an international product recall in 2010.

Ms. Murphy has argued that she has suffered severe ongoing pain following hip surgery and her appeal is against a High Court ruling limiting her claim.
The High Court ruled that she needed clearance from the Personal Injuries Assessment Board before she could take her case to the court, and if this is upheld by the Court of Appeal, then it could see a number of similar cases struck out.
