Ennis Councillors say the prompt resolution of water disruption in the town demonstrate why local authorities should retain control of water services.
Bursts on the main water system saw the Eastern and Northern parts of Ennis, as well as the communities of Barefield and Crusheen go without supply from late yesterday afternoon until the early hours of this morning.

However, Council crews worked into the night to resolve the problem with supply returning to central Ennis this morning and pressure returning to outlying areas during the day.
Ennis Councillor Tony Mulqueen has praised the actions of those who resolved the problem, and says it highlights why there is no need for the government to introduce it’s planned nationwide water services authority.
