The chairman of the Ennis Voices for Autism Group has welcomed a new inititaive aimed at supporting people with autism and special needs travelling through Shannon Airport.

A number of measures are being introduced in an effort to reduce stress for those travelling through the mid-west facility, with staff prioritising those with special needs at security and boarding gates.
The plans also include the construction of a "Quiet Room" which can be used to relax prior to boarding.
Gearoid Mannion says staff will receive special training.
