Ennis Trader Says Measures Will Be Needed In Car Dependent Rural Towns If Parking Is Reduced

An Ennis trader insists there has to be a realisation by Government that in the absence of adequate public transport, there is a dependency on cars.

It follows the publication of the updated Climate Action Bill, which includes proposals to limit the amount of parking in areas with lots of public transport to free up more space for other modes of travel.

John O’Connor from Custy’s Music Shop says while everyone loves the idea of urban re-wilding, it can lead to the asphyxiation of commerciality in places like Ennis.

 

A number of streets in the county have been temporarily pedestrianised and John says this is having a big impact.
