An Ennis screenwriter has narrowly missed out on a chance at Oscar glory.

Viva, which is written by Mark O'Halloran was on of nine films shortlisted for an academy award in the Foreign Language Category, but has missed out on the top five nominations.
It was one of three Irish films shortlisted this year – Room and Brooklyn have been nominated in the best adapted screenplay category.
