Ennis Retailer Believes Compromise Could Be Reached Regarding Ennis Pedestrianisation

An Ennis retailer believes a compromise could be reached regarding the pedestrianisation of Ennis to suit both business owners and consumers.

A survey conducted by Clare County Council has revealed that 7 in 10 of the 1,800 respondents would like to see “immediate” pedestrianisation measures in the county town.

Chair of the Retailers of Ennis Group, John O Connor, who owns Custy’s music shop says all views and opinions should be taken into consideration when making a decision.

He says he wouldn’t like to see blanket pedestrianisation, as his business dropped by 60% when the streets of Ennis were previously closed to traffic, but he’s open to certain hours.
