Ennis Motorist With Glass Of Whiskey In Cup Holder Stopped For Erratic Driving

A motorist is facing a court date for allegedly driving under the influence in Ennis. 

Last night, Gardaí attached to the D Regular Unit stopped a vehicle after it was observed driving erratically.

Upon inspection, Gardaí found a glass of whiskey in the car’s centre console, along with a small quantity of suspected cocaine on the driver.

The minimum disqualification period for a first drink driving offence in Ireland is 6 months, rising to one year for drug driving, while a motorist found to be too intoxicated to maintain proper control of a vehicle will be handed down a minimum disqualification of 4 years.
