Ennis Mayor Calls For Suicide Bereavement Supports In Ennis To Be Restored

The Mayor of Ennis insists that suicide bereavement services in Ennis need to be restored immediately following the closure of a clinic in the town.

The clinic had been offered by Console whose services have now been taken over by Pieta House, but it has now been discontinued, with those availing of it offered counselling in Limerick as an alternative.

In a statement to Clare FM, Pieta House says the issue arose after the owner of the property where the clinic was held, informed them that they no longer wish to continue the contract for the use of the building.

But the charity says it remains "committed to continuing in Ennis longer term" and is "looking for an alternative building".

Councillor Ann Norton has been telling me that she's disappointed that it has come to this stage
