Michael Hanrahan has had a tumour removed from his kidney at University Hospital Limerick using robotic technology known as Di Vinci Xi. 

A total of 29 similiar procedures have been conducted by doctors at the region's main hospital, who say the technique has resulted in significant reductions in both blood loss during operations and patient recovery times. 

Michael has told Clare FM that this type of procedure is the way of the future and he is hugely impressed with the treatment he received.
