A 34 year old Ennis man has pleaded guilty to an endangerment charge and making a false statement to Gardai before the local circuit court.
At Ennis Circuit Court, Tony Greene of Loughville, Lahinch Rd, Ennis has pleaded guilty to endangerment contrary to Section 13 of the Non Fatal Against the Person Act 1997.
Mr Greene has pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly engaging in conduct on October 25th 2021 where he was driving at speed with no lights on his vehicle on the incorrect side of road which created a substantial risk of serious harm or death to another.
Mr Greene has also pleaded guilty to making a false statement contrary to Section 12 of the Criminal Law Act 1976.
In relation to that offence, Mr Greene has pleaded guilty to at October 31st 2021 at Ennistymon Garda Station did knowingly make a false statement tending to show that he had information material to An Garda Siochana inquiries and thereby cause the time of the Gardai to be wastefully employed
Counsel for Mr Greene, Patrick Whyms BL (instructed by solicitor, Daragh Hassett) said that following the guilty pleas the case now becomes a matter for sentence.
Mr Whyms said that arraignment on the two charges was brought forward by his client where even though the case was not reached on a recent court call-over of cases, Mr Green asked for the arraignment to take place now.
Judge Francis Comerford adjourned the case to March 25th to Ennis Circuit Court when a date for sentencing will be set for later this year and Mr Green was further remanded on bail.
