Ennis man before the Special Criminal Court on explosives charges

 

An Ennis man is one of three people who have appeared before the Special Criminal Court today charged with possession of explosive substances.

64 year old Desmond Brennan with an address at Clonroad in Ennis was arrested in relation to suspected dissident republican activity during garda raids across the country on Thursday and Friday

Mr Brennan and 45 year old Joseph Mooney with an address at Cullina, Kilmeaden Co. Waterford are both charged with possession of explosive substances under section 4 of the explosive substances act.

A third man, 27 year old Joseph O’Brien, of Cherry Orchard Heights of Enniscorthy, County Wexford is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition under section 30 of the offences against the state act.

All three men are remanded in custody to re-appear before the Central Criminal Court on Thursday next.

A fourth man is due to be charged later this afternoon.
