Ennis landmarks to “Go Green” for St Patrick’s festival

Three well-known Ennis landmarks will join with some of the world’s most iconic sights by turning green St. Patrick’s Day.

The pyramids of Giza, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and Sydney Opera House will be joined by St. Flannan’s College, the Daniel O’Connell monument and Ennis Courthouse in being illuminated in green light during St. Patrick’s Week.

Tourism Ireland’s ‘global greening’ initiative has been cited as a successful marketing tool for the country.

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Ennis will culminate with the traditional March 17th parade, which will 50 groups take part including a marching band from Phoenix, Arizona.
