Ennis Hospital has recorded a decline in the number of people on Cardiology waiting lists for the first time since November 2025.
New data from the National Treatment Purchase Fund shows 54 fewer people were waiting for an appointment when compared to the record high seen in May of this year.
At the end of June, 1,418 patients were waiting for a Cardiology appointment at Ennis Hospital.
It’s the first time in seven months waiting lists saw a decline, with the last coming in November 2025 when 1,263 people were waiting for an appointment, down from the 1,281 seen in October.
Of those on waiting lists at the Ennis facility in June, 344 were noted as waiting 18 months or more for an appointment.
Another 312 patients were recorded as waiting between 12 and 18 months, 341 people were waiting for six to 12 months, while 421 patients were on a waiting list of six months or less.
At University Hospital Limerick 30,319 adults and a further 4,854 children were on outpatient waiting lists.
Dermatology was again the most in demand service at the region’s main hospital with a total of 4,740 awaiting an appointment.
Of this, 183 people were waiting 18 months or more with 2,250, the vast majority on the waiting list for less than six months.
