A protest is taking place outside Ennis General Hospital this lunchtime to highlight overcrowding and the closure of its accident and emergency department.
The Midwest Hospitals Campaign has organised the demonstration, which is its second protest this year, while similar events are taking place in Limerick, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, and Cavan.
Senior health officials have poured cold water on Ennis’ A&E reopening in recent months, including Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.
Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville outside Ennis General Hospital, Midwest Hospital Campaign member and Ennis native Aideen Sweeney says further investment in services in this county are needed.
