Ennis Haulier Insists Changes To NI Protocol Need To Maintain Level Playing Field

An Ennis haulier insists that any changes to the Northern Ireland protocol need to ensure a level playing field is retained with the Republic.

Minister of State for European Affairs, Peter Burke, has said there is a very narrow window of opportunity to secure a deal between the EU and the UK on the protocol.

It had been hoped that deal on the trading measures would be reached early this week, however, this now seems less likely as British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is coming under pressure from several ministers not to agree.

 

President of the Irish Road Haulage Association, Eugene Drennan, is adamant that Ireland can’t be made to suffer further and that one-sided changes to trading practices cannot be made.
