A Clare GP who’ll be leading this year’s Ennis St Patrick’s Day parade believes the acknowledgement shows the value society places on the discussion of women’s health issues.
Dr Máire Finn of Ennis Medical Centre has been named alongside renowned uilleann piper Blackie O’Connell as a grand marshal for this year’s annual procession in the county town.
Having worked as a GP in Ennis since 1998, Dr Máire has been vocal about female and children’s health issues throughout her career while also advocating for better healthcare for people in the Midwest.
She’s been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons being honoured in this way is an indication that her many years of advocacy haven’t been in vain.
