An Ennis GP is concerned at the low level of 5-11 year old’s in Clare who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 amid the return to school.
The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that on average, less than a fifth of children in the county have received the first two doses of a Covid vaccine, with this figure dropping to 14% in North Clare.
Additionally, demand for booster vaccines appears to be waning, with less than 60% of over 12’s opting for the third dose in Clare, compared to the 92% who received the first two jabs.
Ennis GP, Dr. Máire Finn has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan how her practice has seen an increase in children with respiratory issues following the outbreak of the pandemic two years ago.
