Ennis GP Calls For Secondary Students To Learn Online If Needed During Pandemic

An Ennis GP says she believes the government should consider allowing second level students to remain at home and learn online if they need to.

While Clare has seen a sharp reduction in COVID-19 cases over the last number of days, there is still concern about the level of young people presenting with possible COVID-19 symptoms.

NPHET has advised the Department of Health that schools are not amplifying the case numbers.

Just ten counties now have a lower rate of the disease than Clare, with the rate per 100,000 people having reduced by over 40% here in less than three weeks.

However, speaking to Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Dr Maire Finn says she believes pupils in vulnerable households should be given the option to stay at home to continue to suppress the virus.
