Ennis Gardai investigate Bank Holiday Checkpoint Crash

A mother and her two young children are recovering following a crash in Ennis, in which a vehicle allegedly attempted to avoid a garda checkpoint.

The incident happened at Cahercalla More on the N85 link road to the M18 motorway on the outskirts of Ennis yesterday afternoon.

It’s understood the woman suffered facial injuries and was brought to hospital with her children as a precaution, and a male driver was arrested but later released.

The occupants of the other vehicle were said to be unhurt, but shocked by the incident.

Gardai, the fire service and Ambulance personnel attenended the scene.

Meanhwile, Traffic on the main routes throughout Clare are expected to be very busy today as the long weekend comes to an end.

Showery conditions over the past few days has also lead to hazardous driving conditions in some parts and gardai are urging all road users to exercise caution.

Head of the Traffic Corps in the Clare Garda Division, Inspector John Galvin is also advising those who had a late night to ensure they’re fit to drive the following day.
