The world's largest traditional music festival comes to a close this evening following the Cherish the ladies concert at the Shannon Aerodrome tonight.

The curtain falls on Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann tonight, following nine days of festivities.

The official figures on attendance have yet to be released but organisers have hailed it a massive success.

There was also huge engagement with the festival online.

Almost 1.3 million people were reached through Facebook with just under 590,000 people engaging with the event's official account and half a million with Clare's FM's page.

Over 10,000 people attended concerts during the festival but Director-General Of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Labhrás Ó Murchú says that's not the only record that's been broken in Ennis:

Over 1,500 volunteers gave up their free time to ensure the success of the event.

Chair of the Clare Fleadh Executive Committee, Micheál Ó Riabhaigh says it couldn't have been done without them.

The Head of the Clare Garda Division has expressed his satification with the policing operation in the county town.

Chief Superintendent John Kerin believes the planned operation went off without a hitch.

There's been mixed reviews from businesses in the town, though on the whole, feedback has been mainly positive.

Acting CEO of Clare County Council, Ger Dollard hopes that the benefits of the increased spend will be felt in the town in the coming weeks.

Tonight Cherish the Ladies winds up the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann celebrations for this year, though if you were hoping to make a last minute dash for tickets, you're luck has ran out – the concert is officially sold out today.

From tomorrow, Ennis will be back to normal – but for the Fleadh Committee, it's back to the drawing board to plan for next year.
