Ennis Economist Says More Possible on Public Pay

An Ennis economist believes there is room for the Government to provide an increase in pay for public sector workers.

The Public Service Pay Commission is expected to publish its final report by the end of May, which will then trigger talks with trade union groups on a new deal to replace the existing Lansdowne Road Agreement.

There’s reports of a potential 2% pay increase over three years but the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe has today warned that talks will be challenging and that any deal must be fair and affordable.
