Micheál Collins does warn, however, that the UK decsion to leave the EU is likely to have significant and negative implications for both the Irish and EU economies going forward
Against that backdrop, he says the Irish government should focus on investment in infrastructure and research, rather than tax cuts.
Mr. Collins, who is Senior Economist with the Nevin Economic Research Institute, admits there is a lot of uncertainty over how Ireland will be impacted by the vote, but he thinks it will be a while yet before we see the full effects.
