Ennis Disability Activist Calls For Regulations On E-scooters

An Ennis based disability activist says E-scooters are here to stay so regulations need to be made.

In November 2021, The Irish Wheelchair Association, NCBI and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind published a joint position paper in advance of the Dáil debate on the Road Traffic and Roads Bill, and are to present their concerns to the Oireachtas Committee on Transport.

Dermot Hayes, disability activist in Ennis, believes escooters should not be allowed on foothpaths as it creates dangerous situations for people with disabilitites and mobility issues.

He says local authorities should also be given the authority to create speed limits for E-scooters.
