Ennis Councillors have expressed the fear they’re becoming irrelevent and say it’s obvious the government wants to do away with them.
The March meeting of Ennis Town Council heard criticism of the new Irish Water Company – which is set to move control of local water services from the local authorities to a national body, with many members of the view that their functions are being taken away.
The Mayor of Ennis suggested a special meeting on the subject, while other councillors called for the Taoiseach and the local government Minister to be made aware of the anger of local representatives in Clare.
