Ennis Councillor wants drone trial to tackle crime in Ennis

An Ennis Councillor has suggested that unmanned drones be flown over Ennis as part of a pilot program aimed at tackling crime.

Fine Gael representative Johnny Flynn has called on the Minister for Justice to bring a pilot policing technology scheme to Ennis, whereby mobile cameras and other technologies would used to assist Gardai fight crime, including anti-social behaviour.

His suggestion has been backed by his fellow members of Ennis Town Council, and Councillor Flynn feels it could even see the use of small, unmanned drones to capture images of criminals in action.
